Having shared the stage with peers like Suicide Silence, Emmure, Despised Icon, Oceano, Thy Art Is Murder, and countless other legendary bands, Martyr Defiled helped shape the UK’s deathcore scene during a time when the genre was still gaining international traction. Formed in 2007, they were among the first UK bands to successfully merge American-style deathcore—brutal breakdowns, blast beats, and death metal riffing—with a British hardcore influence.
With deep guttural vocals, chugging riffs, atmospheric/melodic interludes, and crushing breakdowns, “Young Gods” was the most refined & evolved version of their sound. While not as technical as prior releases, this album is more groove-driven & influenced by hardcore with elements of beatdown.
Having just played their last ever set at Ghostfest 2025, I don’t think there could be a better send off than finally getting the rest of their discography on vinyl, starting with Young Gods.
